PAXTON — The Paxton Finance Committee leaned toward a $336,000 override for fiscal 2027. Chair Mark Love presented options narrowing an original $466,000 deficit to $416,000 after the Wachusett Regional School Committee cut Paxton's assessment by $50,635. The panel unanimously approved a $7,042.90 year-end transfer to the legal services account, which had already spent $27,842 this year.
The Town Administrator said police staffing needs tied to the end of an Anna Maria College arrangement could add another $20,000 to $50,000, pushing the override from $316,000 toward $336,000. Member Karl Ottmar said "anything under 400, I think would be a win." The committee also named Jeremy Richard clerk pro tem and meets again June 3 with a police department representative before warrant articles are posted.
