Finance Committee · Meeting of July 15, 2026

Paxton Finance Committee approved $48,733 in year-end transfers and reelected Mark Love as chairman for fiscal 2027. The four transfers, mostly covering storm-related tree removal, pushed the year's total to 20 transfers worth $193,000, about double a typical year, which Love said will cut the town's free cash certification this fall to roughly $200,000 to $300,000 instead of the usual $500,000 to $600,000. Jeremy Richard was reelected vice chair; the clerk's seat stayed vacant for another meeting.

The committee also revisited a contentious July 6 Select Board meeting over a recommendation to study outside review of town departments, with one member calling the episode "a sin for this town" and "an embarrassment to this town." Separately, officials reported $324,162.29 in uncollected real estate taxes and more than $11,000 in unpaid dog license fees.
