Finance Committee · Meeting of April 16, 2026
PAXTON — The Paxton Finance Committee voted 4-1 to reject a $7,000 annual set-aside for the town's next property revaluation. Members including David Bloom and Jeremy Richard argued the town could not afford to bank money five years ahead while facing a roughly $640,000 override request, even as the panel separately voted 4-1 to shift $15,000 in unused town administrator search funds toward this year's reassessment. A staff presenter identified only as Robert told the committee that a state review found only two of 100 sampled property cards were accurate.
The panel also flagged that the May 4 town meeting ballot lists a Ford F-150 for a vehicle purchase that was actually approved as an F-350, an error officials said cannot be fixed before the vote. The committee corrected its certified free cash recommendation to $511,363.
