PAXTON — The Paxton Select Board unanimously backed a preliminary student mentorship proposal and received a storm damage update. Economic Development Committee member Tony Dominick pitched a mentorship program for ages 14 to 22, citing AI's disruption of career paths and requesting a modest $700 budget covered by grants. Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Michael Pingitore reported the May 19 wind storm knocked out power to more than 300 homes and damaged six residences, calling it worse than an earlier tornado: "Absolutely, without a doubt." Town Administrator Robert said a revised state aid estimate trimmed the school budget deficit to $415,000, though storm costs aren't yet factored in.
The board also moved to gather nominees for the new Anna Maria College Transition Advisory Committee ahead of its June 1 meeting.
