Other Committee · Meeting of July 20, 2026

PAXTON — The Paxton Charter Review Committee agreed to recommend the Select Board shrink its own membership from seven seats to five. Town Administrator Robert and Select Board liaison Jeff Wentzel joined members Gary, Megan and secretary Chuck for the session at the Public Safety Complex, where the panel also voted unanimously to move its draft Article 11, covering financial procedures and treasury oversight, into the charter's approved column. Gary said the final draft blends two competing versions, calling the merged language "more consistent and more thorough" than the alternative.

The committee opened but did not finish Article 8, on Select Board executive powers, after debating whether the town administrator belongs in that article or a separate town-management section. Members approved the July 13 minutes unanimously and set their next meeting for August 11 at 5:45 p.m., ahead of an August 17 joint session with the Select Board.
