Other Committee · Meeting of June 9, 2026

Paxton's Charter Review Committee reorganized and lost its longtime chair to resignation at the June 9 meeting. Members voted 4-1 to proceed with annual officer elections, then unanimously chose Paul as chair, Gary King as vice chair and Chuck Putney as secretary. Outgoing chair Dave announced his resignation from the committee moments after the chair vote, saying he had withheld the news so it would not sway members' choice of leadership.

Select Board liaison Jeffrey Wenzel told members an update "every couple months is...more than reasonable," and the panel acknowledged it is "not halfway through the first pass" of reading the charter's elements. Members also agreed to ask the Select Board to reconsider a rule barring people who serve on other town boards from joining the committee, after splitting 4-1 earlier over a single candidate's eligibility.
